Only 16 days left of school--boy will I be glad to see this semester end. It has been a pretty rough one.

My 6-word memoir on being green was chosen to be the featured 6-word memoir at smithmag.net today to honor Earth Day! I was so tickled that they chose mine. :)

Spring is coming, slowly but surely to Minnesota. I always love to see spring arrive here. The trees are beginning to show their little green buds. It won't be long now.

I started a window box herb garden--hopefully I see something besides dirt in it soon. I am growing impatient! My little tomatoes I started are sprouting little green sprouts, so I guess I did those right anyway. Although, I think I put too many seeds in. It looks like I am going to have far too many to grow on my patio. I will have to see if I can find someone else who wants to grow some this summer too!

That's all for now. I have to study. /sighKathi Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12589057071450717107noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5486413684089213123.post-77230295144756149072009-01-21T13:36:00.004-06:002009-01-21T13:48:48.415-06:00Off to a bad start!Well, it seems I am off to a bad start with my New Year resolutions! I haven't blogged since Dec. 26th and we won't discuss the others. hehe I am working on them .. slowly but surely.

I have decided to add a couple of little things to my list as well (like I don't have enough to worry about). I am going to learn to use chopsticks and make it a point to try and read at least six classics this year.

I find so little time for personal reading since I returned to college, but I think it's important to make time for it this year. Otherwise I find myself just hating to read and that is a bad thing for a college student.

I started my new classes last week and am really psyched. I think I am going to really enjoy two of them -- two out of three ain't bad as the saying goes. I have finally gotten past the general education and am actually going to start learning some useful tools that will help me in my future career. The courses feel different now, more of a challenge that I am ready for -- I think.

Time to fly ... I have a quiz to study for and have goofed off long enough ...

Until again,

Kathi ~ Kathi Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12589057071450717107noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5486413684089213123.post-74618711696016716642008-12-26T13:33:00.008-06:002008-12-31T14:29:05.456-06:00UpdateWow! This has been a busy year! I graduated in May with honors. We moved from Alexandria to Mankato (hurray for cable TV). I started classes at MN State University, Mankato and just finished my first semester with all A's. Go me!

I'm really looking forward to the new year. New school, new classes, new home, new job (hopefully soon) ... it gives one a sense of hope with all this newness surrounding me.

I have been thinking over that New Year's tradition of making resolutions (you know ... those things you start on January 1st and quit about two weeks into the new year) and have decided to start mine a little early this year.

What are my resolutions for this year you ask? Well, they are quite ambitious as always. We will just have to wait and see how many I manage to keep. I think goals are important. At least it gives one a direction to shoot for and a clear view of your failures. hehe

Exercise at least 3 days a week

Wii Fit every day

Lose weight

Eat healthier

Quit smoking

Blog at least once a week

Update my website

Finish all those little projects lying around the house

Get rid of the clutter in my home

Pay down debts

Maintain my 4.0 at Mankato State

Well that's 11 new resolutions. That should be enough to ensure I don't get them all done! Hey! I believe whole-heartedly in the concept of progress not perfection. Striving to improve oneself is half the battle whether you make the goals you set or not. At least you have tried.

So wish me luck! I'm going to need it. I hope your New Year's Resolutions all work out for you as well. Remember the power of positive thinking is a very strong force. You can do it!!Kathi Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12589057071450717107noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5486413684089213123.post-19492135641283217412008-01-12T02:37:00.000-06:002008-01-12T02:52:27.597-06:00Poem - ProcrastinationProcrastination

Write a poem, the lesson said
Make it new, or drag out your dead.
You have a week to make your mark
I’ll go to bed – it’s late and it’s dark.

Fall break, so longed for, now arrives
The poem awaits its wisdom tides.
Video games and friends to see
Movies to watch – relaxation for me.

Sunday night now, and I should write
Oh what the hell, ‘tis football night
My poem, mulled in wine, will wait in its sorrow
Surely Monday is fine. I’ll write it tomorrow.

Work today? I guess I shall
Money is tight for this little gal.
Oh shoot, my poem! ‘Tis midnight now
Tuesday’s the day. I’ll write it somehow.

Tuesday in class, new movies in mail
My poem! My poem! My brain doth wail
Shush I say, Sopranos last season!
Away with you now, your sensible treason.

Eleven PM, the clock screams from the wall
Your quiz is done, your excuses now fall.
Get to work writing, or sorrow you’ll see
When the A that you’ve made drops down to a B.

So here I sit writing in contrary verse
How bad can it be? I’ve written much worse.
Put off ‘til tomorrow and not done today
Pleasure before work, not work before play.

Some day I’ll do better – later, not now
Make up a plan and stick to it. Wow!
I’ll do that tomorrow, or maybe next week
It’s midnight now, and I need some sleep.Kathi Carterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12589057071450717107noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5486413684089213123.post-29390686845443825102008-01-12T02:22:00.001-06:002008-01-12T02:27:56.552-06:00Welcome to My New Blog!I'm not really sure what I am going to post here but I'm sure I will come up with something.
